UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is now hiring a full-time Registry Coordinator. This position will be located at Shadyside Place in Pittsburgh, PA, but once training is completed and productivity expectations are met, the individual will be able to work from home limited UPMC office days.
This position will work directly with researchers from the UPMC Magee Women’s Cancer Research Center. This role in particular is responsible for research registry initiatives related to breast and gynecologic cancers, primarily supporting the research and quality initiatives of UPMC Magee.
Like other general Registry Coordinator roles, they may become involved with peer quality initiatives and training staff. They will also work with the Manager to coordinate the workload of staff members,
The Registry Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Registry Information Services as well as UPMC Network Cancer Registry Managers, UPMC Cancer Center Directors, Information Systems Department personnel, statisticians and clinical investigators to work toward a fully integrated oncology information system with the UPMC Network Registry data as an integral component.
This particular position has a working title of “Research Registrar” for our Breast and Gynecologic Cancer initiatives. The selected candidate will work directly with researchers from the UPMC Magee Women’s Cancer Research Center. This role in particular is responsible for research registry initiatives related to breast and gynecologic cancers, primarily supporting the research and quality initiatives of UPMC Magee.
Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) or CTR eligible required. Must obtain CTR credential within three (3) years from date of hire.
Proficiency with MS Excel.
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.
Experience with Elekta METRIQ cancer registry software.
High school diploma and two years Cancer Registry experience required. At time of hire or within three years must become a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR). In accordance with National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) eligibility requirements for CTR (2012): Hold or earn an Associate’s Degree (or equivalent 60 college credits) or completion of National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) certificate program and 160 hours of registry-related experience or hold/earn an Associate’s Degree with 2 courses anatomy and physiology with one year of Cancer Registry experience. Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or other health related field preferred. Must have proficiency in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, abstracting techniques, AJCC and SEER summary staging systems, ICDO with knowledge of ICD-9/10-CM, and/or other clinical coding systems. Accurate and efficient keyboarding skills necessary to meet productivity standards required. Ability to successfully supervise a variety of projects and teams in order to meet deadlines. Must exhibit ability to be flexible in response to sudden change in workload and/or personnel. Strong analytical skills using software applications is required. Proficient use of computers and a variety of health care information systems. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees throughout the UPMC and UPMC Network Cancer Registry, administration, physicians, statisticians and clinical investigators.
