NCRA Announces Updated Credential Name

NCRA has announced an update in the credential name, transitioning from Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) to Oncology Data Specialist (ODS). This title change, beginning January 1, 2024, aligns more closely with the dynamic roles and advanced scope of cancer registrars. The decision was achieved through a volunteer-driven initiative, emphasizing the essential part played by cancer registrars in capturing crucial data that leads to innovations in cancer diagnosis and treatment.

NCRA has planned an extensive one-year period to integrate the new credential name. Recognizing the challenges of such a substantial change, the NCRA has committed to offering comprehensive guidance throughout this process and will launch a toolkit in the fall of 2023. (via ncra-usa.org)
